Yves Montand was an Italian-born French actor and singer. He was the son of Giuseppina (Simoni) and Giovanni Livi. They moved to France in 1923. Yves’s mother was a devout Catholic, while his father was raised Catholic and came to hold Communist beliefs.

Yves was married to actress Simone Signoret, until her death. He was then married to Carole Amiel, until his death. Yves and Carole had a son.

Yves has often been described as being of Jewish origin, likely because of his original surname, Livi. However, these claims are not correct.
