Max Landis is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and comic book writer. He is the son of director and producer John Landis and costume designer, author, and professor Deborah Nadoolman Landis. He has a sister, Rachel.

Max’s paternal grandfather was Marshall Landis (the son of Maxwell Landis and Muriel Davidson). Maxwell was born in Russia. Muriel was the daughter of Jacob Davidson and Pearl Stone.

Max’s paternal grandmother was Shirley Magaziner (the daughter of Harry Arthur Magaziner and May Potasky). Shirley was born in Ohio. Harry was born in Ohio, the son of Russian Jewish parents, Benjamin/Bernard/Bono Magaziner and Lena Speck.
